I’ve been experimenting with archaeological style field sketches of the strand line. I was inspired by this mode of drawing to document my finds as I like the simple silhouette of shapes which are open to interpretation.
The various remnants of plastic objects that litter the shore consistently remind me of the artefacts that time has elevated to a position of importance and academic interest. Pottery or metal objects that were left behind by chance are enjoyed in museums today. Perhaps the plastic fragments we leave in our wake will tomorrow be venerated and pondered in the same way.
